Dave Bennett signed for City in the hectic summer of 1983, costing just £100,00 from third division Cardiff City. Bennett had made his name as a speedy forward with an eye for goal at Manchester City, and seemed to be just what the Sky Blues needed.
In an eventful first season Bennett soon impressed with his control, pace and attacking threat. City roared up to fourth by Christmas and hopes were high. However, they barely won another match all season and needed Bennett's last match winner to secure safety.
This seemed to set the tone for much of Bennett's stay at City; on special occasions, he certainly could produce the goods, but too often, he promised more than he delivered. The point was, watching Bennett, it was clear he had ability - the darting runs, the clever footwork and the odd goal, all showed what he could do, but, like so many wingers, consistency was the problem.
In 1986, Bennett ended his third season at City with another relegation-saving strike, but things remained a struggle. The joint appointment of Sillett and Curtis that summer though changed things dramatically. Bennett was finally playing in a side that allowed him to do what he did best - attack defenders while others worried about defending.
The 86-87 season included some electrifying performances from Bennett, showing he had finally added that magical missing ingredient - consistency. Bennett's Cup Final performance showed his full repertoire of tricks; from tiptoeing through the Spurs defence to equalise, to setting up Keith Houchen's wonder goal, he was involved in most of the good things City did. Injuries limited Bennett's subsequent career and his stylish play was rarely seen after he left Highfield Road, but Sky Blues fans certainly saw his best days, when he danced down the wing to great effect.

1987 FA CUP FINAL WINNERS
SIGNED 1987 FA CUP FINAL STEVE OGRIZOVIC
Steve 'Oggy' Ogrizovic (born 12 September 1957 in Mansfield), was a goalkeeper who played for Coventry City F.C from 1984 -2000. He has the record at Coventry City for the most appearances as a player at 601 and he played in the winning FA Cup team in 1987. He is also one of the very few players to have scored direct from a goal kick, the goal coming in 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday FC on October 12, 1986 (this was the only goal that Ogrizovic ever scored as a professional).
His other clubs include Chesterfield FC, Liverpool FC, and Shrewsbury Town FC from whom he transferred to Coventry City for a fee of £72,500. Steve is now the Sky Blues' (Coventry City) Academy Director.
Steve was also a more than useful cricketer reaching minor counties level as a fast bowler.
In 2003 Steve was the victim of a hoax that said that he had been kidnapped in Kazakhstan and an online petition was set up to campaign to get him released. This was proved to be false when the Coventry Evening Telegraph interviewed him at Coventry City's training ground at Ryton-on-Dunsmore

A very collectable reproduction photo from original of 1987 Coventry City star Steve Ogrizovic in action photo is black/white and shows Oggy celebrating with the base of the FA Cup.
Oggy has handsigned the photo with a black sharpie permanent pen.

SIGNED 1987 FA CUP FINAL CYRILLE REGIS ACTION PHOTO
Born in Maripasoula, French Guiana and moving to England in his youth, Regis started work as an electrician, playing for amateur team Hayes F.C in his spare time. Spotted by Ronnie Allen, he joined First Division club West Bromwich Albion F.C in 1977, where, under maverick manager Ron Atkinson, he teamed up with fellow black players Brendon Batson and Laurie Cunningham. It was very unusual for an English club to simultaneously field three black players. The Three Degrees, as they became known, in reference to the contemporary vocal trio of the same name, challenged the established racism of English football and marked a watershed that allowed a generation of footballers to enter the game who would previously have been excluded by their ethnic background. Interesting, after Atkinson's famous on-air use of the word "nigger", Regis defended his mentor, suggesting that the word is less significantly offensive to people of that age.
A strong and fast traditional centre-forward, Regis was voted PFA Young Player of the Year in 1978 and went on to win five England caps. Regis was an FA Cup winner in 1987 with Coventry City FC

After leaving Coventry in 1991, he was transferred to Aston Villa and partnered Dalian Atkinson in the 1991-92 season. But he left at the end of the following season after being forced out of the side by new signing Dean Saunders, and signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers. He had little success at the Molineux, with first-team opportunities restricted by the strength of the Steve Bull David Kelly partnership. His stay at Wolves lasted just one season before he joined Wycombe Wanderers. After one season with the Chairboys, he was on the move again - this time to Chester City. Cyrille Regis played his last game in February 1996 and retired from football nine months later at the age of 38, having never made a full recovery from an injury suffered in a match with Chester.
A very collectable reproduction photo from original of 1987 Coventry City star Cyrille Regis in action photo is black/white and shows Regis winning the ball and pressing forward 2 goal hero Gary Mabbutt is left eating the wembley turf. Cyrille has handsigned the photo with a black sharpie permanent pen.
